"Life After Death" Print

Art Description:

I was camping with some friends along the Gunnison River and moths were attacking our eyes and ears. Many were flying into a candle we had set up at our table where we tried to eat in peace. We watched as one by one they flew to their deaths and laid lifeless in the hot wax, wondering what was going through their heads. Nothing maybe. Just light. The next morning the wax had hardened into an almost beautiful, quite morbid display. I decided to turn one of these moths into a drawing. There was some life here even after they had all died. Maybe a metaphor for how we are all together through life and in death although we live our individual lives. It seemed like they were all frozen and could be awakened with a little sun. Who knows? We do unfortunately and maybe that's what makes it bittersweet.
