For a long time, old memories have kept me from being myself. Even though traumatic experiences aren’t happening to me on a daily basis anymore, it’s almost like a part of myself is keeping me from being who I am. I’m like a lady waiting for her husband to return from a long journey at sea, knowing that he’ll never come back. I'm holding onto something and someone that doesn’t exist anymore, preventing myself from becoming who I am. “I am a dreamer and I’m silly! It’s true and I’m proud of it!” I don’t want to be someone who is sad all the time anymore! I want to become who I really am! Sure, it’s okay to be sad sometimes but I have to stop acting like I need to let myself down so somebody else doesn’t do it for me. We’re all “fighting to live” and I’m not trying to be someone who's fighting to die anymore. There’s so much to look forward to and so much to be happy about. It’s okay to be excited and okay not to put myself down. That’s why we need to let go and leave some things behind. We’ll always have a great respect and reverence for those things. Sometimes when you love something you have to let it go so you can be who you really want to be. Who you were born to be. Who you were meant to be. A pirate? Maybe I’m just watching too much One Piece. Thanks a lot Aidan.
