I'm not sure if I've tiled a piece after just a punctuation mark before so it adds some excitement to what is already an exciting title!

On December 8, 2021, I made a piece titled "Astronaut in a Kiddie Pool" which I love and it got a great reception but the work didn't feel completely genuine. For those who don't know, there is a song called "Astronaut In The Ocean" by Masked Wolf that the former piece was based off of. I had heard the song on TikTok (find me there as @api_rats) a bunch and thought it'd be funny to make some kind of visual representation with a spin. Here I'm taking that idea to a whole other level.

I have to start saving these raw sketches. I have this entire album called "Fuck" on my iPad with a whole lot of very raw ideas. I saw this rough outline of a diver and some bubbles in front of them and thought it's be funny to put them in a bathtub with a big octopus!

On the right is a depiction of what I'd imagine those old time scuba guys look like. As I kid, I'd spent a lot of time scuba diving and always dreamed of going down in the depths with the deep sea creatures. So here I am trying to pull us back to that childhood sense of wonder that we all could use in our adult lives. I can't tell if it's too easy to see or not but I lined the diver's face mask with 24's (let me know in the comments). Of course, you should know at this point that I am still a huge fan of the late, great Kobe Bryant. He always believed that you could do anything if you tried hard enough and that's something I try to carry with me every day.

I love to draw squid tentacles. I think they're so mighty and as good of a depiction as ever of the wonder that nature has created. You can look back to some of the first works I've posted on Instagram, I am all about this ominous underwater monster showing up to say hello on one of my wild adventures.

It's crazy what you can imagine in your mind sometimes.

Sometimes there are no words for it at all.
